6 January to mid-February 2027 (Opportunity to extend)
Verified Lab Services (VLS) is looking for Data Entry & Programme Support Assistants to support our team through the busy pest monitoring season.
Working behind the scenes of one of our major seasonal programmes, you will help turn information collected by field teams into accurate, completed results for the kiwifruit industry.
The role is primarily computer-based, processing pest monitoring results, checking information and progressing completed work through our systems. It is fast-paced and high-volume, making accuracy, focus and attention to detail important.
What you will do
- Enter pest monitoring results accurately into our database
- Check information for accuracy and completeness
- Progress completed results for approval
- Identify errors or unusual information and escalate these to the appropriate team member
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date programme records
- Support the wider Field Operations team during busy periods
What we are looking for
- Confidence using computers and learning new systems
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to process a high volume of information while maintaining focus
- Confidence completing structured and repetitive computer-based tasks
- A reliable and organised approach to work
- The ability to work well as part of a busy team
- Availability to work 40 hours per week, including one weekend day, from 6 January until approximately mid-February
- Previous data entry, administration or systems experience is valued but is not essential. Full training is provided.
This role could suit someone home from university for the summer, a recent graduate, someone between opportunities, or anyone looking for consistent short-term work where strong computer skills can be put to use.
What you can expect from us
- Full training and support to get established in the role
- Consistent full-time hours throughout the fixed-term period
- An experienced team working alongside you throughout the programme
- A busy and social team environment
- Practical experience working with operational systems and data
- Potential opportunities to continue working with VLS beyond February
Looking for something longer?
For those interested in continuing through the kiwifruit season, there may be opportunities to transfer into our Fruit Testing Laboratory following the pest monitoring programme, with seasonal work continuing until approximately May.
Make your summer count.
If you are confident on a computer, have a sharp eye for detail and are looking for a busy summer role where your work contributes to a major horticultural programme, we would like to hear from you.
